Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 12-16
Ingreidnets:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- Options: pecans, orange zest, raisins, currants, blueberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice
Directions:
- Rinse cranberries.
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Add the cranberries and bring to a boil again. Reduce the heat and let the cranberries simmer until they burst, approximately 10 minutes.
- Stir in the optional toppings.
- Let the cranberry sauce cool completely at room temperature and then refrigerate. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
Notes:
- I like to add half a cup of chopped pecans and a pinch of orange zest.
